Inverness

Inverness is the unofficial capital of the Highlands and it is the only city in the Highland region of Scotland. This is the most lively area in Loch Ness with a wide selection of shops, restaurant and accommodation to choose from.

The city is easy to navigate with the bus and train stations both only a few hundred yards invernessfrom the main shopping area of Inverness. The main indoor shopping centre here is the Eastgate Shopping complex which has over 60 stores ranging from fashion to food courts! There are also a good selection of stores on the high street which you will find at the foot of the Eastgate.

Inverness has accommodation for many budgets with hostels readily available around the city centre and beds from only £12. The most popular form of accommodation here is bed and breakfasts and you will find dozens of B&Bs around Inverness with some very competitive prices. If you want a more upper class hotel then the five star Rocpool which is in the city centre.

The main attractions in Inverness, outside of Loch Ness, are the castle which overlooks the city centre and Culloden battlefield which is a short drive from the city.
